
Because I can’t help but do another little installment.
“I discovered the cause of our power fluctuations, Commander.”
Chakotay looked down at the child’s small freckled face. Her dark hair in pigtails, now askew since he did them this morning. These “disturbances” to the ship were becoming more and more common.
He wondered if Kathryn had been this much of a handful when she was younger. He took the child’s tiny hand in his, “Thank you ensign, I’ll handle.” and walked out of Engineering.“I thought I asked you to stay out of engineering?” he inquired, keeping his tone calm.
“I was working on a theory and needed to test it.” she responded.
It was all Chakotay could do to suppress a smile. He never thought he would be dealing with a precocious little Kathryn clone when he found out they were having a child. But here he was putting out fires his six year old was constantly starting simply out of curiosity.
“Are you taking me to the brig?” her voice trembled a bit.
“Worse.” Chakotay paused before continuing. “Your mother has volunteered to cook tonight.” He looked down and smiled. He wouldn’t change a thing.
