Who do you think was the first to realize Janeway and Chakotay’s (at the very least potential) relationship?

Was it Harry who looked over from ops and saw them whispering and laughing with each other, then promptly decided that it wasn’t an ensign’s place to speculate on the nature of his commanding officers relationships?

Was it Kes who saw them standing way too close to each other in the corridor and smiled to herself thinking how wonderful it was?

Was it Tom who noticed how panicked one of them seemed when they thought they had lost the other on an away mission and got to thinking “hold on a second…”?

Was it The Doctor who noticed the same responses in those two as he had explained to Kes he registered when realized Tom was attracted to her?

Was it B’Elanna who had known Chakotay for so long she could easily tell when he’d fallen for someone and noticed that sometimes when Janeway stares back him it’s a predatory look straight out of a Klingon romance novel?

Was it Tuvok who had known Janeway for long yet couldn’t remember ever seeing her so comfortable and so happy with anyone, even Mark?

Was it Neelix who realized that Chakotay spends way more time eating in the captain’s quarters than in the mess hall and secretly starts planning the wedding well in advance?

Obviously someone figured it out long before Seven signed on, but who’s to say that Tom B’Elanna were the only couple she was studying when curious about romantic relationships?
