So just how many memos do you think Starfleet Command has sent out over the years reminding everyone that it is against standard operating procedures to have the captain and the first officer on an away team together?
Did they give up at some point? Is this something that every admiral that reaches a certain status goes through a idealistic phase of trying to remedy before finally realizing it is futile?
I know right?!? As much as I enjoy the dynamic that often goes along with this, it makes no sense logically. I often feel like there could have been a much better (possibly more interesting) way to make it happen without it seeming like such a dumb plot device.
