If Beyer could just deliver more of this in the next book that’d be great. She shouldn’t worry about plot or any other characters or anything. Just this will do.
Kirsten Beyer’s ‘Atonement’ is hers. I’m just re-reading them and dying a little bit at how perfect Chakotay and Janeway are.
We have a strong male demographic and Janeway managed to be somebody who is the ideal blend of authority, command, and believability as a captain, and yet was not threatening to the male audience. They accept her and they like her. Kate also managed to endow the role with a lovely femininity. She’s attractive, she’s nurturing, she’s sensitive, she’s caring. She really owns the whole package, and I am enormously respectful of what she brought to the character.
