Because it’s fanfic writers appreciation day and some of you may not have read the wonderful stories these authors created.
KatLady’s extensive J/C Fanfic: She has everything you could wish for: fluff, spice, angst, and tremendous hurt and shipper heart horror. One of the go-tos when you want to see our favourite OTP suffer. (Not for the faint of heart, though.)
Spiletta’s Imagery Acres: Another one of those who’ve written it all. Spiletta has short, novella length and novel length stories of about any rating. For the squirmish ones, she usually has two versions of the spicier stories.
Mandy aka maulmistress: neatly organized into PG-rated and adult stories, she has also been very active and has written some really nice angst, wonderful smut, and just about everything else the shipper’s heart can want – including the indecent OTP-suffering through brutalityshay story. Sadly, she’s one of the geocities victims, so you may have to use the waybackmachine to find your way around her site a bit. Some pages have been archived up to 2009, others only up to 2002.
Maquis Leader: One of my all time favourites and definitely a go to when you need a goold old smut of any variety. Maquis Leader has it all and the writing is wonderful. (The site is titled Chakotay’s Bedroom, I guess that says it all – there are PG rated stories, though.) Another site on the Internet cemetery, sadly.
Shayenne’s Erotica: Yes, I’m actually linking the Erotica page, because I haven’t actually read all of Shayenne’s stories as of yet. And I know you all have a dirty, depreaved mind like me. Anyone who doesn’t – she also has PG-rated stories HERE. And best of all, the site is still active and doesn’t have to be accessed through the waybackmachine.
Delta’s Trekker Treats: Delta has a comprehensive list of fanfiction (and other delicious stuff) on her site. She’s a wonderful writer and still active in fandom. She’s currently moving her stories to a03 HERE, which is wonderul. But I’ll link her website, so you can explore her other stuff as well.
Ralkana’s Hideout: Ralkana – yes the pseudonym is an ode to VOY’s Resistance – has her own fanfic as well as links to wonderful other writers (some of which are mentioned here.)
JinnyR: A Koffeeklub and VAMB member. Closing Ranks is one of my favourites. And I usually stumble over A New Phage, simply because of the title and description. I’m not sure if it’s meant to say Phase, of it the Phage is intentional, but, oh well…
Caffey: You’ll actually have to navigate to Caffey’s stories by going to Voyager –> Caffey on the side menu. I love Intimate Lessons, the summary is already worth reading, and Non-Fraternization 101.
KJ’s Fanfiction: Yes, I go there for the NC-17 stuff, but I’m sure her other stories are wonderful as well. Haven’t read them though. But if you’re into smut, check out her adult page. She has some really hot ones. The image that greets you is worth the click. (I just realized it’s been so long I don’t remember most of the stories and have a reason to re-read. Not that I need one, really.)
Rachael Gold’s Black Hole: Yes, the image that greets you is creepy af, but her stories are worth getting beyond that. As far as I kow, her spicier stories have a password protection. You’ll have to email her, but don’t worry, she’s usually fast to reply. And when you get the password, you’ll facepalm yourself for not thinking of it as a true J/Cer. I loved A Convenient Marriage, although it’s not the obvious shipper’s choice.
Ghostwriter’s Library: I don’t actually remember this writer, but I have the site saved for some reason and the stories read strangely familiar. I’m sure it’s worth a read if I saved it.
NODA’s Fanfiction: My favourite is Proper Order, I guess. But it’s honestly been so long that I only vaguely remember. But the stories are definitely good.
Sheri’s Stories: She’s one of the victims of the wattpadd plague – by which I mean wattpadd members stealing stories and posting them under their own name. She’s also a Koffeeklub member. I remember I loved An Eyeful, Lifelline, First House and Seasons in the Sun. Innocence Lost gives another spin on Janeway’s relationship with Tom Paris. Worth a read. She has her stories neatly organized into clean, msut free and adult stories. But we all know we want to go there. She’s co-written some stories with Dakota.
Dakota’s Star Trek Voyager:Dakota moved her site and I’m linking to the old one, because it’s still active. Her newer site, to which she links herself, is only accessible through the waybackmachine. While her stories are neatly organized by date, they lack any rating information beforehand – meaning you’ll have to open the story to see the rating. There’s also no summaries or short content description. You’re going in blind here.
Dawn’s Voyager Drabbles and Dreams:Never forget Dawn. She’s my hero for writing The Future Is Ours. If you need to save one fanfic yor your vacation, take this one. It’s the length of 3 novels and wonderfully perfect. It has everything and more. Her other stories are wonderful as well.
Ky aka venom69: A lot of dark and twisty material here. Much of it with adult content. But it’s nicely marked and the descriptioons/ sumaries give a good insight if you are into it or not.
Kadith’s weyr: I don’t remember much about the story, but the site title is stuck in my head. Maybe because it’s so different that you just don’t forget, or maybe because the stories were are so good? I don’t remember, but it’s probably worth checking out. There are also collaborations and other pairings (namely J/Ayala.). There’s a lot of material to read through.
elem’s Voyager J/C Fanfiction: Last but not least, elem! She’ll be forever one of my most cherished writer. Why? Well, she’s the one I first read and when you read her stories from oldest to newest you can see her first humble attempts and how she developed as a writer. I love her writing style. Some of her stories read like poetry and are just so wonderful you want to put them on your shelf and stare at them all day. Her later stories make you want to caress your computer screen, they are so tender and carefully crafted. She has a uniquely wonderful grasp on J/C and the best thing is, she’s been active forever and still is. She started out in 2005, I think, and her newest stories are from 2016. For some reason, I really love Puppy Love and keep going back to that one.
I know elem doesn’t really fit my own category of non-contemporary as in no longer active. But her writing feels like she’s been doing this forever and I couldn’t ever not include her in any of my favourite writers lists.
But well, if you know of any other J/C writers who are no longer active but need to be mentioned, please reblog and add your own recommendations. I’ll never tire of reading J/C fanfic. I probably forgot a bunch of terrific writers, but these are the ones at the top of my list, at least corresponding to my browser’s reading list.
I’ll have to make a list of my favourite contemporary writers soon.

Wow, this is quite a long list, thanks for sharing @emmikamikatze. That’ll give me some new stuff to read providing they’re still online. Besides, I know Dawn’s and elem’s stories and like them very much.
I feel like we seriously need to talk about these gifs: The oh so gentle way he reaches out and caresses her arm, as much emotional as physical steadying. The way they turn their faces towards each other in perfect unison. The way they react to jostling somehow by going towards each other (rather than in the same direction)… like their instinct is to come together for support no matter the circumstances.
Also they both just look really pretty here with their perfect hands and her romantically starting to fall out of its confines hair and their worried little faces and perfect profiles and sad eyebrow raises and glorious cheekbones and his oh so kissable lips.
This so perfect.
You can see that even with the whole crew around them they seek comfort and assurance in each other.
She doesn’t just take his arm – he lays his hand over hers. This is such an intimate gesture. (Also why did that woman have to walk in front of them right then?)
Now look at that. That’s not just relief, that’s “I need to touch you all over to make sure you’re really not dead” relief.
That’s “Let me truly look at you again before I leave you for two seconds in case you die on me again”
And finally, this is “I’ve seen half of my crew down, but Oh God, not him, please not him” angst.
These two are just so close and intimate with each other.
[I used to ship Janeway and Chakotay until a confession on this blog made me stop and think. Someone said how they where grateful the two never got together on screen because it showed a man and a woman being friends and coworkers without it becoming sexual and, you know what? Yes. Damn straight! About time. So many female characters, eventually, seem only to exist to be a love interest to a man. Enough! I no longer ship J/C because sex is not the end-all and be-all.]
Because all romantic relationships are automatically sexual…I know plenty that aren’t, several of which never were. Just saying.

Her long hair was always my favorite, though it wasn’t Kates real one. Which was yours?
@jcshipperj I always liked her long hair too. I wish they had let it down while she was in uniform. Not full out but a ponytail or something. It always baffled me as to how she was able to create all these intricate hairstyles in the morning even when she was called to the bridge unexpectedly haha
Chakotay replicating a cup of coffee with the words “will you marry me?” printed on the inside bottom of the cup but Kathryn doesnt see it untill she drinks all of her coffee while she’s on the bridge where she can’t react.
She sits in her chair and stares at her cup, biting her lip so she doesn’t start crying. After a minute of composing herself sufficiently she asks Chakotay to join her in the ready room to go over a report but when the door closes behind them, she smacks his chest and then throws herself into his arms.
