It came out of nowhere. Just something to give Chakotay to do because the writers didn’t want to try to develop his character any more. Like, they felt that SOMEONE had to end up with Seven because she’s super mega foxy awesome hot

Everyone hates 7/C. Everyone. It is the only thing universally agreed on in the fandom. Trust me.
